Earth and Sky Hat

This hat is a commission work for someone who saw my Ketchup and Monster hat online. ^^ I dyed the wool and knit up the hat with the extra yarn I knit a neck warmer or scarfllet.

Ketchup and Mustard Monster Hat

I dyed, spun, designed and knitted this hat for one of my best friends. She loves yellow and red together and I thought that she needs a fun and funky hat for winter. I hope she likes it. When I was knitting it every thing just worked out it was nice. He hat was meant to be. I have to make small plush monster pins for it still.
The yarn I dyed and spun. It is called sunspots. About 9 wpi and I spun 4 oz, 240 yrds
It is merino, mohair, sparkle, sequins, and gold thread

The hat was knit flat (because I didn’t have DPN’s) on size 10 1/2 needles and a size K croquet hook. The tubes were knit in the round with 3 different sizes of needles because I didn’t have 10.5 double points. I don’t recommend this. I singled crocheted around all the edges and added the braids. It took about 160 yrds to make that hat.

I plan on posting the pattern for free once I refine it and type it out.

Stitching Wrists

Wrist cuffs embroidered to look like the inside on the wrists XD
yay!!

I had the idea while embroidering in my fibers class, with my angry writs. ^^

I found a bunch of images on line some from real anatomy classes with cadavers *shiver*
I want to donate my body science or my organs to people. It a good thing.
These images look nice to work off from. . .http://www.theodora.com/anatomy/the_muscles_and_fasciae_of_the_hand.html
it is Gray's not Netter's. I ran to library to find Netter's but it is on reserve for med-students.
Thank good for sister's who are docs and art lovers. Especially medical art lovers. I called her to ask if she had her book, and teller my idea. She was very excited and would like a pair. . . I have to see how they stitch up. The first pair are mine so I can have some healthy writs to wear over my angry ones.

Food and Yarny goodness

Classes started today
I get to do a spinning demo in my fibers class ^_^

A while ago a friend and i made Okonomiyak http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Okonomiyaki
We split shrimp ones and i made my dad a pork one iwth out the sauce because he is allergic to one of the ingreaiates. But he loved anyway and told my Grandma all about it. Here are some pictures

I made my friend yarn in her favorite colors and then I am going to make her a funky hat out of it with on monster pin.

Other yarn was from the Tour de fleece and the weaving was an overshot sample that I made last durring the winter semester.

fabric and paint chips

Today mom and I drove 3 hours to Feilds fabrics.
God i love that store, well priced quality fabrics. . . something joanns will never understand

I am painting my neice's nersery and the grey my sister picked out clashes with the drapery fabric.
oh dear god it clashes.
It is a very green grey which is hard to work with.
So I found a better grey but i don't know which one they want for their bathroom
I think i found a nice purple , blue and definatlly a good grey that goes with the fabric.
The grey i picked out is more of a nuteral grey
so yah

I have been listening to a lot of german disco and disco nevo(aka scissor sisters, goldfrapp)

You tube is magic.

picture update

Well I gave up on my camera hunt and found a good quality camera for a fair price.
I bought the Fuji Finepix S700. I like it fits in the hand nicely and I like the images I have gotten.
I have a big image update.
Photoshop collages and retouched images.(original images:http://www.flickr.com/photos/9181712@N05/837542550/ and http://www.flickr.com/photos/9181712@N05/836675023/ )
My car ^^
And three drawings made with Illustrator.
And a picture of part of my sister throw.

I made a lesson plan where students have to take a historical figure and make him in to an illustration and then put a witty phrase that reflects part of their life. It sounds like a fun thing to do to learn the basics in Illustrator. . . more interesting than drawing a piece of fruit.

An Illistrator lesson plan to create. I have some sketches on illistrator that I want to post. ^^

I need to finish my friends felt necklace for her brithday.

I have been brousing for a new camera. I think I have it narrowed down to two:
a Fuji Finepix 40fd or a Cannon Powershot A630

I need to clean like crazy. . . my room, my stuido space, and my car. . . .

Tricked my ride

My mini van back wheel holes have some rust issues so this weekend I decided to buy some enamel and cover that up. Of course I chose the weekend my dad is out of town. ^^ I bought rustoilum enamel and latex paint (that I thought was enamel*head slap*) My dad comes home and say did you use automotive paint? Ah . . . no. Then he asks if I patched up the hole form getting rid of the rust . . . ah I didn't it out. I just wire brushed it and knocked of the peeling paint, then painted over that. He said ok it might not last. Well yeh it won't because I have latex over oil based and mixed because I didn't read the label *head slaps twice* gah I know far better then that.

Working on a mixed media collage for my digital art class the first part is a digital collage then painted over with cut collage.
It is so nice to paint again.

I when to my favorite LYS http://www.heritagespinning.com/ for a sale and to show Joan (the owner) my rug and some of my funky yarns. She was so excited she took pictures for her blog ^^. I got yarn to my future niece or nephew some things.

I had to remake beads for a friend’s gift.

And worked on an etching as well this weekend

Camera is still MIA. I need it now so I can show of my tricked van. It has a kitschy angel and devil theme. I feel like I need shag upholstery and carpeting in my van. That would be awesome.

gahhhhhh

I lost my camera and i hope my house ate it. And not the restraunt or worse the movie theater. if they did i hope some one turned them into the lost and found.

Busy with art

I have been busy with printmaking Computers and tour de fleece
My printmaking professor I getting on my nerves he is the kind that is always looking over your shoulder. I prefer and work better when they leave me the heck alone and put some input in once and a while. I am very head strong when it comes to my art and art making. I think he is the same except he has to have people do things his way. I have a blister on my thumb from carving linoleum. I finished four in one day and printed one, and then a four-layer print.

Finished my first lesson plan in computers and a fun drawing on Photoshop. (I tried to make it a jpg. but ps froze.)

Spinning away made two skeins yesterday. Finished the brown roving yesterday. Today I will finish the surprise-roving mom got me for my birthday last year. Skein form the 9th tattered Pointe shoe

Fri and Sat Mary is having sewing and craft days I want to go Saturday and Friday but I have plans Friday for doc appointments and bead stores maybe Ikea and the nummy foods. I'm thinking mid eastern.

Deviant art is acting weird. I can't post new piece or watch new artists . . . . I am wondering if they put more restrictions for non-subscribers.

Yarn and carving

So I am posting two days of spinning for the Tour De Fleece

This was spun yesterday from BFL top dyed by Spunky Electric http://www.spunkyhats.com/accyarn.htm
It was plied with wooly nylon and beads.

Todays spinning is a shetland roving I bought a couple years ago at the Mt. Burce Fiber festival. It is very easy to spin. it is a 2-ply

I did some painting and linocuting today. I acually cut my thumb. I was being dumb about it though. Cutting linoleium in my lap. Not smart. I know better too. I think I need some new tools they seem slugish.

Well my camera fell once and the monitor is fucked up. Once. camera Once. I am hoping that a freshly charged battery will help. The pictures are coming out the same and good so no big issuses.

Fiber fun

Tour De Fleece starts to day ^^ so spinning fun

Yesterday I wove and felted. Note to self: do not weave when on pain meds. On Thursday, I had my wisdom teeth removed.
At the moment the prawn on my loom is worn down just enough to be a major pain. I need to order a new one or find a better solution. I have an eye screw and a set of chop sticks helping hold the tension.
I love felting beads. Not the round bead but the felt milifiore type. Lots of fun. Like this --> http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=90918.0

I started my printmaking and computer graphics classes. I have to work on homework this weekend. A lesson plain and some mini monoprints and linocuting.

Yes and take pictures you silly Kyla.

Thursday, June 28, 2007

I now have creative suites on my mac. Ahh the digital art wonders.

My loom is broken. . . T_T

I bought a silk screen today ^^ ohh the wonders of printmaking.

Tuesday, June 26, 2007

First, my weaving mmm

Second, yarn spun by a batt from the lovely SheepFeathers http://sheepfeathers.blogspot.com

I plied it with wooly nylon and beads. I call it seasoned dreads.

Third, is a spindle spun mixture of alpaca, wool, silk, sequence and fake leaves. I also hand carded and dyed the fibers. It is called hills of Ireland

I have joined the Tour De Fleece
http://keeponknittinginthefreeworld.blogspot.com/2007/06/tour-de-fleece-2007.html

Other than that I have been working in the warp threads on my rug and my writs are trying to start a revolution. So I have not been working on my art. Soon I will start two of my Art Ed method classes: printmaking and computer graphics.
